The CEMS Worldwide® EMT Scholarship Program awards an EMS education grant to a qualifying EMT-Bs or EMT-As who shows commitment in becoming one of the next generation leaders of our profession.

The goal behind this program is not only supporting those working towards their paramedic certification, but also investing into our future first responders.

Scholarship Overview

Contract EMS Worldwide, will award three (3) scholarships, amounting to $500.00, $250.00, and $100.00 that are valid for credits earned in college degree curricula and other independent, nationally certified programs that prepare participants for a Paramedic certification at the state or national level. Each award will also include a lifetime membership access to Contract EMS Worldwide. The awards will be paid to the qualifying training program on behalf of the award recipient at the conclusion of the academic period after successful completion of the coursework (C+ or better, or Pass on a Pass/Fail scale). Individuals may apply annually, but are limited to one award in a three-year period. Payments cannot be made directly to any individual award recipients (i.e., health care professional or program participant).

Application Criteria

The applicant must meet certain criteria for application.

  • Applicant must submit a complete and accurate application by the stated deadline.

  • Applicant must be a U.S. Resident, attending an EMS education course in the U.S.

  • Qualified applicants must be employed (or volunteer) as an EMT-Basic or EMT-Advanced by a licensed EMS service and have no less than 2,000 hours of field experience.

  • Acceptance for consideration requires submission of a complete application by the annual deadline.

  • Recipient must begin the educational program in the term for which the award is granted.

  • Recipient will fully complete the EMS program for which scholarship is awarded.

 Application Guidelines

The complete application includes:

  • Relevant personal work history (EMS experience, license number awards, recognitions, etc.)

  • Endorsement from an EMS director confirming the applicant meets the minimum employment/ volunteer requirements.

  • One (1) professional reference letters from a Supervisor or Co-worker.

  • Applicant must submit an essay ( no more than 1,000 words) demonstrating their commitment to the profession; including:

    • His or her educational and employment goals

    • Dedication to the community

    • Ability to serve as a positive ambassador to the EMS profession

Award Selection Process

All scholarships are reviewed and award decisions made by an independent committee composed of 4 impartial arbiters. Applicant names and distinguishable information will be omitted from the committee meetings as to avoid biased influence on the selection process.
